An undying passion !
The story of the Valcolombe estate is like a Jean Giono novel: a place reborn through the deep connection between people, land and place.
The Valcolombe farmland had been abandoned since 1936 when it was taken over in June 1993 by husband and wife team Pierre and Marie Leonetti, both doctors, who had fallen in love with it.
By 1994 the old ruined house had been renovated and was being lived in. The estate was coming back to life.
The first vines were planted in 1995, then in 1996 and 1997, the estate finished its reconstruction in 1998 with the commissioning of its wine cellar. After almost 20 years, the estate was taken over by Philippe and Marie-Hélène Grammont on August 31, 2012.
They discover the hard profession of the land, do their apprenticeship to master all the stages, successfully marry the grape varieties (there are 10!), And produce hand-sewn, elegant and refined wines. Alchemy? Without a doubt. But above all a good dose of creativity and attention. And in collaboration with the oenologist Bruno Tringali. In Valcolombe, there is no ostentatious and excessive excess. With a frank and sincere welcome, Philippe and Marie-Hélène took up residence, seven days a week to receive their guests. Before taking out the glasses, they tell their story, invite you to visit. The caudalie can then begin, it will not disappoint.
